The Sole Walk: Hillocks Drive, Butler’s Beach
Hillocks Drive is a linear 5 hour walk (not including breaks) between Butlers Beach to Kangaroo Island Lookout and return. OR, Butlers Beach to Meehan Lookout and return.
This one-day walk passes along the spectacular coastline within Hillocks Drive, which is a real highlight at this end of Yorke Peninsula. Experience the rugged coastline, quiet sandy beaches and magnificent rock pools. Also enjoy the wildlife and spectacular bird-watching.
It is a challenging walk (category 3) due to need to traverse the rocky beach line. The walk is for sure-footed walkers wearing sturdy foot wear. Plan the walk with the prevailing wind behind you for greater enjoyment.
Brown snakes are native to the area, be sure to wear shoes, socks and long trousers when walking in the bush. If you see a Brown snake, keep a polite distance away and admire his beauty. Snakes are most commonly seen in spring.
Pack your lunch on the beach and cool off in one of many rockpools during those hot summer days. You might also enjoy our shelter with a bbq.
